There are two ways to do this:
1. Create a trigger in the process. If that trigger needs to return a value, then set that value in case variable. Then add a button the DynaForm and add JavaScript to the DynaForm that is executed when the button is clicked. In the JavaScript code, use use the $.ajax() function to execute the PUT /cases/{app_uid}/execute-trigger/{tri_uid} endpoint. The use $.ajax() again to call the GET /cases/{app_uid}/variables endpoint in order to get the value of the case variable set by the trigger.

2. The second way to do this is much easier in my opinion. It uses a submit button to close the DynaForm and then executes a trigger after the DynaForm if a particular button was clicked. Then it uses PMFRedirectToStep() to redisplay the same DynaForm. See this example: http://wiki.processmaker.com/3.0/Grid_C ... s_in_grids

As of now I'm still having this problem.
