I want to populate a dropdown using a trigger. i want to use a custom query and get values from db and populate the dropdown.

Oh, I see that you want to use a trigger, not JavaScript. See:

If you are using PM 3.0.1.18, then you can use the Array Variable option in the Data Source property for the dropdown.
