In my process, when a grid is populated with literal values and file paths, the correct data is saved to the database when it is initially submitted with the dynaform. When this same dynaform is retrieved with the grid set as editable, the literal values for other fields are retained but the file name is lost. If the grid is included in another dynaform and set as read only, the literal values and file name are rendered but when the dynaform is submitted the file name is reinitialized as null and the corresponding entry in the database is overwritten. Viewing the entries in the change log reflects this behaviour.
