If I am using an external database to query all the data from database and to persist data to the database. But if the database connection failed, how to handle the case without "Die" and to make the case draft or something else so that the case can be continued once the database available again.

What you can do is to make a gateway where it verifies that there was a connection with the external database and if not it returns to the original task until it can complete the task.
