Questions and discussion about using ProcessMaker: user interface, running cases & functionality

I have just started using PMC and am creating my database in it. One of the features I will need is for the system to be able to reeceive an email, then trigger certain events depending on the subject and body of the email.

Does anyone know if thisis possible?

Actions by Email in the Enterprise Edition sends out an email and then the user selects an option in the email, which can trigger actions inside ProcessMaker. Another option is to use the FTP Monitor plugin starts new cases based on the contents of new files which are placed in a folder.

If you need something else, then you will have to program it yourself. You can create a looping process that periodically executes a script task which checks an email account. Then, if it finds a new email, it then reads the contents of the email and then calls functions such as PMFSendVariables, PMFNewCase() or PMFDerivateCase(). If you need those actions to be taken as another user, then you can login as that user using web services or the REST API.

Firstly, thanks for the response. The last system I was using I was able to bounce my Gmail emails with a certain subject to a form inside my app. The app software (Zoho Creator) was designed to accept record entries via email which you could turn into triggers quite easily. I think you've given me enough info there to be able to work something out.

Thanks Amos
